The photographed world is not an archive of objects set before a lens. It is a culmination of unique experiences, world views, and personal philosophies rendered together, visually, through a variety of manual, optical and digital techniques. Cronin’s approach to image making references the history of art and photography, while at the same time employing contemporary components that expand the technical and conceptual limits of the medium.
Matthew Cronin is an artist living and working in Austin, Tx. He received his BFA with departmental honors from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and is currently a MFA candidate at University of Texas at Austin. His work has been shown in New York and Los Angeles as well as internationally. His work has received several awards including the FotoFilmic First Place Beau Photo Prize.
